Safety Coordinator

Location: Phoenix, AZ

About the Role

GCON is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support the execution of our construction safety programs across active job sites. This is a highly visible, field-focused role that partners with project teams to promote safe work practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen our culture of safety. The Safety Coordinator works closely with Safety Managers, Operations leadership, and field personnel to proactively identify hazards and help ensure every team member goes home safe—every day.

This position participates in OSHA inspections, assists with job hazard assessments, and supports training, inspections, and safety documentation across a variety of complex construction projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Support and execute safety programs under the direction of the Safety Manager and Operations leadership.
  • Serve as a hands-on, on-site safety representative for assigned construction projects.
  • Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to integrate safety into daily work activities.
  • Assist with site-specific safety plans aligned with company standards and OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs/AHAs.PTPs), including fall protection, scaffolding, forklift, and mobile elevated work platform safety.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and observations; assist with corrective actions for unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Support safety training efforts such as orientations, toolbox talks, and site-specific training.
  • Assist with incident documentation, investigations, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely safety records, reports, and logs.
  • Support OSHA inspections and regulatory visits by preparing documentation and assisting leadership.
  • >10% travel required.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in construction safety or environmental health & safety (EHS).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1926, and construction safety practices.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and hazard recognition.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with field teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and leadership.
  • Ability to work on active construction job sites and navigate job site conditions safely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid/CPR, Dust Control 310, or other construction safety certifications.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Safety, EHS, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting safety on commercial, industrial, or high-tech construction projects.
